Miltenberg, Germany - Monday July 14

The Viking River Cruise program has such a wonderful mix of entertainment, lectures, sightseeing, dining, and/or floating down the River.  This morning they had a world-famous glass blower come on ship and do a demonstration.  He was very informative and witty, plus offered a great demonstration.

During the afternoon we toured Miltenberg.   It was a very picturesque village.  Lots of half-timbered facades.

Lots of little shops.  Most of our walking is on cobblestones.  In some areas, they've added little gold plaques to the stones, sometimes commemorating Jews who had been killed.

Then a bus ride through farmland to meet our ship.  But the ship was an hour late catching up with us because it had to go through several locks.  They used to be able to make reservations for the locks, but that has been done away with so the captain never knows exactly how long it will take.   We go through a total of 67 locks where they raise the water level (like on the Rhine) or lower the water level (like on the Danube).
